Senior Executives
Senior executives employed by Babcock & Brown are seconded to the B&B Manager to assist in conducting the activities of the B&B Manager under the Management Agreements. The management team possesses strong financial, management and operating skills and are focused on consolidating BBRLP's future growth potential through its investment strategy.
Michael Balkin
Chief Executive Officer
Michael is a senior executive in the Real Estate Group at Babcock & Brown and is based in the Sydney Office. Michael joined Babcock & Brown in 1995 and has led the development of Babcock & Brown's Australian residential principal investment activities over the past six years. He has been responsible for investing in, and managing, a portfolio of equity risk and mezzanine investments in residential developments and has developed relationships with many of Babcock & Brown's core residential development partners.
Michael holds a Bachelor of Science (Business Information Technology) and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment.
David Wightman
Chief Investment Officer
David is a senior executive in the Real Estate Group at Babcock & Brown, and is based in the Melbourne Office. Since joining Babcock & Brown in 2000, David has specialised in residential development transactions.
Prior to joining Babcock & Brown, David worked for the ANZ Bank in a variety of roles, most recently in their Corporate & Institutional Banking, Property & Construction Finance division.
David holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and is a member of the Australian Society of Certified Practising Accountants.
Mark Salmon
National Development Manager
Mark was appointed as National Development Manager in July 2006.
Mark has over 25 years experience in the property development sector through senior development roles with Lensworth and Stockland. Prior to joining Babcock & Brown, Mark led the project team responsible for delivery of the18,000 lot master planned residential, commercial, industrial and retail community known as Kawana Waters on Queensland's Sunshine Coast. Mark also managed the planning and statutory approvals process for Stockland's Caloundra Downs 24,000 lot master planned community located on Queensland's Sunshine Coast.
